A nuptial bond is holy and extremely special for each one of us, and so are the outfits bought for the special occasion. Indian wedding dresses, as we see, are usually very gorgeous, heavy and worked upon in details. The intricate thread work, embroideries or embellishments look so gorgeous on the luxe fabrics, which are also reasons behind the popularity of Indian lehengas and other Indian dresses across the globe.
As soon as the D-Day gets over, one of the most important and valid reasons of anxiety of every bride is that how to take care and store the wedding lehenga rightly without spoiling any part of it. Well, of course, it’s sounds more tedious and challenging to keep your designer lehengas and other outfits in the trousseau, safely and conveniently, but all you need to do is follow a few steps.
Cleaning and Refinishing
Check if your designer lehenga needs to be sent to the cleaner or designer for cleaning, retouching or refinishing. Examining the lehenga of tattered threads from the border or embroideries, beads, mirrors or other embellishments coming off, will help you get it fixed early, before the outfit is damaged too much.
Steaming and Dry Cleaning
After you got it fixed, definitely go for a dry cleaning and steaming session to remove the spots, grease and stains.
Store It Safely in A Box
Fold it rightly and store your lehenga in a box. After every 4-6 months, change the folds of the outfit. Neem oil, naphthalene balls or cloves can help keep away bugs and pests from your box, imparting a fresh smell to your lehenga. Do not plan to hang it if your lehenga is very heavy, rather put butter paper between each fold and start folding it from the outer edge. Store it in a cool, dry place. Let it out in the sun (not direct heat though) at least once a year. Keep it in the open space, refold it and store again.
